the opening of OASIS CITY

Last Thursday saw a glittering occasion in the heart of Prague; more than 300 people attending the Grand Opening of the city's latest creation, 'OASIS CITY'. Situated in the Marks and Spencer Building on Wenceslas Square, 'OASIS CITY' is Prague's first multi-purpose leisure centre offering a comprehensive range of exciting and relaxing activities including from a unique childcare centre called 'Robinson Crusoe's Island', a Jacques Dessange hairdresser and manicure/beauty centre, an aqua centrum complete with jacuzzi, cold dip and steambath. A fitness centre complete with room for hot-joga, speed cycling and aerobics. For business people there is an exclusive VIP salon with bar, reading materials and restaurant.

At the opening were many important citizens; diplomatic representatives from the Austria, Syrian, Mexican Embassies. From the world of beauty Katerina Stocesova, from the world of the Arts as a fashion designer Helena Fejková, academic painter Kája Saudek, painter Regina Marková and actor Josef Dvoøák. From the world of politics Ing. Milan Ekert, Chairman of the Permanent Delegation to the Inter-Parliamant Union.

The highlight of the evening was a charity auction of a picture of "The Melantrich Building" by Kaja Saudek, auction of a picture "Sunshine for Asia" by Regina Marková and a photograph of Vaclav Havel by Rossano B. Maniscalchi. After spirited bidding more than Kc 91.425,- was raised in support of the Asian Tsumani Appeal.
